A few tips to land your job as a campground housekeeper

If you're looking for a job in housekeeping, you're in the right place! The role of housekeeper at a campground is hugely important for giving guests a clean, pleasant, and welcoming environment throughout their stay. Whether you're interested in cleaning accommodations, restrooms, or common areas, there are plenty of housekeeping jobs waiting for you at campgrounds.

Technical Skills and Use of Products

To become a housekeeper at a campground, it's essential to know cleaning and disinfection techniques as well as how to use the right equipment and products (floor scrubbers, vacuums, eco-friendly products). Experience in housekeeping, hospitality, or caregiving is an advantage. Pay close attention to instructions for using and dosing products to work efficiently while meeting health and safety standards.

Cleaning Accommodations and Common Areas

Cleaning accommodations is a core part of a housekeeper's role at a campground. Clean and prepare cabins, lodges, or rental units between each booking (a thorough clean, changing bed linens, checking the general condition) within the time allowed. Also handle daily cleaning of restrooms, shared bathhouses, and common areas (front desk, dining areas, lounge spaces) to keep things clean and comfortable at all times.

Organization and Managing Turnover

As a housekeeper, you need to be ready to organize your work around turnover schedules, particularly on busy changeover days (check-ins and check-outs). Practice working efficiently and thoroughly to meet the turnaround time between one guest leaving and the next arriving. Keep an eye out for anything that needs reporting (damage, malfunctions, lost property) and help maintain a spotless impression of the property.

Communication and Teamwork

Communication is key to being an effective housekeeper at a campground. Check in regularly with the front desk and maintenance team to report any issues found in accommodations (breakages, malfunctions, missing equipment) and coordinate cleaning schedules around check-ins and check-outs. Work well with other housekeeping staff to divide tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
